Buns
of Butter performed live on the Concord Stage at the Iowa State Fair in
August of 1998. Kristen Baumliér and dancers René Paine and
Adam Burke drove to Des Moines, IA with a trunk full of ice and workout
materials.
Due to the extreme heat, the onion spin was performed instead of the donut spin. Special for the fair, the dancers performed a new routine- the Corn Dog Run. The show was supposed to close with the cotton candy dance/cooldown - but by the end of the set the cotton candy had become a pool of sticky pink sugar on the stage.
A volunteer from 4-H ran the sound board. Immediately following the Buns of Butter performance was the Iowa State Fair Beauty Pageant.

Buns of Butter outfits: Blue shorts with white piping (a fitness classic) and T-shirts with silk-screened Buns of Butter blue ribbons on them.
Buns of Butter set: The Buns of Butter backdrop at back of the stage and in the front three posters which read "Get fit with food," "#1 Workout in America," and "Buns of Butter."
