Buns of Butter performed at Gabe's Oasis in Iowa City in Summer of 1998 with the bands Burmese and Db Angels. Dancer Adam Burke performed Buns of Butter with Kristen Baumliér.
For two of the routines, a volunteer from the audience did the workout with the dancers. The volunteer who tried the donut spin displayed his drunkenness when in-between donut spins, he hit a nearby cymbal with his dowel rod and made loud hooting noises. He was excited to be a part of the show.
The volunteer for the 40-ounce beer lift performed with the "starter size" of a 32 ounce Foster beer can. He was quite quick at picking up the moves for the routine and performed it like a pro.
